My phone is dead, as of yesterday. Poor dear spaceship phone, five years old, the only one I've ever had.

I'll get a new one soon, but for now internet if you want to get to me.

Outside is grey and icy with piles of snow and channels of ice chunks along the roads. I am inside and warm, curled up on the couch with a book and a blanket. My boy is reading the news. The table in front of me is piled on one end with wrapping paper and loot: books and tee shirts and skatewheels and cookies. The other end has a tiny tree with twinkling battery lights and little bells, a vase of red roses and a box of bright clementines. I have a little bowl of soup and a plate with some bread and olives and I'm alternately sipping hot tea and a virgin mimosa. Tyler's new Jason Webley CDs are playing us lovely slow gypsy songs.

I hope you all are having days they enjoy so much.

It's the winter holiday I understand. There's hope. The days get longer now.

There is snow everywhere, but today it is starting to melt; we can leave the house again. I do love a good symbolic coincidence.

Happy solstice to all!

I posted about being down; I should post about feeling better. I have been. Life is keeping me busy, which is vastly better than the alternative. I have wonderful people in my life.

I also have errands to run before it snows, so this'll be brief.

Good things

- Potential movement on the job front. Nothing definite, but some very interesting possibilities. Even if nothing comes of it, it's cheering.

- Mid-day outings with Jilli two days in a row. Today's involved a reindeer costume and left me covered in glitter.

- Have managed to get presents for a good number of people without going broke. Feeling kind of accomplished. (Note: Presents may arrive anytime between now and... February? I'm accomplished here, not necessarily punctual.)

- New track from the upcoming Evelyn Evelyn Album on myspace! Smile for the camera, Evelyn. Squeee! I can't wait for the album.

- Weekend full of plans. Seeing some of the people I don't make time for often enough.

- There's to be snow! Potentially 6-10 inches. I love a good snowstorm.
